May 18 marks the birth in 1920 of the greatest man of our era, Karol Wojtyla, Pope John Paul II. He lived under totalitarian socialist regimes from age 19 to 58, first Hitler's National Socialism (NAZI) immediately followed by Stalin's International Socialism (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). He became a priest in an underground secret seminary outlawed by socialist occupiers. As man, priest, and Pope, he never ceased to stand for life, liberty, and faith, and against totalitarianism.
